Regatta Report: Saturday: Beautiful sunny day in Toms River, New Jersey with the temperatures in the mid-60s. The wind came out of the NNE ranging from 6-12 mph which gave the sailors a variety of shifty and challenging conditions on the Toms River. Christchurch of Virginia/MASSA jumped out to a quick lead on the first day of ACCs. Saturday ended with some extremely tired sailors and A-Division having finished 10 races.

Sunday: B-Division started with race 9B where the fleet experienced light winds for most of the morning. During race 10B, the race committee postponed the event due to no wind. Around 11:30, the wind finally came in for the rest of the event. Congratulations to Falmouth High School of Maine who finished third, Norfolk Collegiate of Virginia who placed second and to Christchurch for winning 2010 Atlantic Coast Championship.

I would like to acknowledge the following volunteers who made the regatta possible: PRO Rich Warren, Rich Proko, Harry Foote, Dr. Drew Siebert, Bob Marrow, Skip Swikart of RFH, Scot Ellis of Southern, Dr. Randy Nunn of TR South, Dave Magno and Paul Stevens. Saturday, lunches were provided by Helga Paggi and Patricia Thompson-Sevick of Monsignor Donovan High School. We would also like to recognize Farro’s who supplied the t-shirts and Colie Sails Pro Shop who supported the event. A special thanks goes to Jody Lutz of North Flags who provided the burgees for the trophies. As always, we would like to thank Roy Wilkins of Ocean County College and the Toms River Yacht Club for their continued support of high school sailing in New Jersey.
