1. RULES
The current ISSA and SAISA Procedural Rules, the Racing Rules of Sailing, the prescriptions of US Sailing, the Sailing Instructions, and this Notice of Race, will govern this regatta.
2. SCHEDULE OF RACES
Saturday, Dec. 1:
8:30 Arrival and check-in, boat rigging.
9:00 Competitors’ meeting
945 Start of first race of the day
1400 Latest start time of a race
3. FORMAT
This will be a
team-racing regatta, with teams being composed as per ISSA rules; teams will
rotate through the boat groups (three boats per group) per a rotation posted on
the day of the event. A Sound Signal
Starting System shall be used. Time
permitting; the Race Committee will attempt to run one complete team racing
rotation. Competitors should expect
short races with courses as set forth at the skipper's meeting. To complete a regatta, each team must have
the opportunity to race once. All coaching, including instruction,
assistance, equipment or sustenance shall be provided only on shore or on
designated vessels on the water.
4. SCORING
Scoring will be according to RRS Appendix D3 and D4. Ties will be resolved per RRS D4.3 and 4.4
5. AWARDS & TROPHIES
Prizes will be awarded as soon as possible after the last race to be sailed in the event.
6. FEES
There is no entry fee for the event. A $100, fully-refundable boat damage deposit must accompany the generic registration form and waiver available on the South Atlantic Interscholastic Sailing Assoc. website (www.saisa.org) listed under “Mallory Qualification Series, South Points”. Check, registration, and waiver forms should be mailed to: Dwight Hill 12901 S. W. 69 Avenue, Pinecrest, Florida 33156.
7. ELIGIBILITY
All 2001-02 Member Schools of the South Atlantic Interscholastic Sailing Association (SAISA) are welcome. All schools must be members in good standing with SAISA. If a school wishes to participate, and has not yet paid the ISSA/SAISA dues, they will be provided the opportunity to pay dues at check-in.
7.1 Registration for the event should be received by the event chairman no later than Thursday Nov. 29. Registration is on a first paid/first allowed basis.
7.2. Competitors must attend the school they represent full time and must be in the 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, or 12th grade, as of the date of the Regatta. If your school does not have sufficient sailors to form the necessary 3 boat teams, we will attempt to "mix and match" sailors from different member schools. An adult school representative/advisor is required to accompany each team and to be responsible for their conduct on and off the water. The team representative, who may be an advisor, coach, or parent, is expected to have full authority to obtain medical treatment for his team members.
7.3. Schools may enter both varsity and JV teams, depending on boat availability.
8. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
Sailing Instructions will be available upon check-in at Ransom Everglades.
9. BOATS
Collegiate 420’s will be used. The competitors must furnish personal safety equipment. Bailers and protest flags will not be provided.
10. RACING AREA
The racing will be in Biscayne Bay, one mile east of Ransom Everglades.
11. LUNCHES
Plan to bring your own lunch. Water will be provided.
